so it begins

The first post of 2008! Taken a while, but anyhow…

Looks like I have a number for this years Great North Run on the 5th October – amazing what you agree to in drunken conversations! A few friends did the run last year and I agreed to enter into the ballot for a number for this year. While checking my bank account the other day it seems that £40 has been taken from the organisers, a sign that I have a number. Just have to wait for email/mail confirmation!

Anyway, I’m going to attempt to keep a log of what I’m up to to get ready for the run – i.e. uploading details of the training I’m doing and routes run etc. so keep checking back to see how I’m getting on!

spygate v2.0

another spygate scandle in F1, this time involving Renault and, for the second time this season, McLaren. Read the Renault statement here:
renault statement

I wonder if they will get the same “fair” judgement as the McLaren $100 million fine!? I suspect not, as other scandal’s have resulted in differing judgements. Ferrari were just told to stop using their flexible floor (as used at the first GP of ’07, which they won!) and the former Ferrari employees working at Toyota guilty of industrial espionage – settled in court with no punishment doled out to Toyota…hardly seems fair?!

C’était un Rendez-vous

Saw this mentioned a while back on Channel 5′s Fifth Gear…It a film from 1976 – all shot in realtime and not speeded up in anyway, it shows a a trip from Port Dauphine to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur. It was done in a Mercedes Benz 450EL 6.9, but the sound track is of a Ferrari 275GTB.

You can read more about the film here

Grrrr…

leopard is here
Finally, after being delayed due to the release of the iPhone, OS X 10.5 is here. I made the trip to the Apple store in Sheffield’s Meadow Hall to have my first look – also managed to convince the other half she should come along too (although she got a bit fed up and disappeared to look at shoes)First impressions are good, had a play with the new “spaces” feature – should be useful for using with VMWare fusion. Also cover flow being integrated into the finder seems like a cool feature –  wether it will actually be of use remains to be seen…hopefully my copy should be landing on my desk at work on Monday from where it will be promptly installed and played with tested. I even managed to get there in time for the free “limited” edition T-Shirt, haven’t decided wether to actually wear it or not yet though! While I was there, I also had a chance to play with the new iPod Touch – now, where did I put that spare £300……..

Dublin Invasion

Insert (IMG_6252.JPG)
I’m back and fully recovered from my Dublin trip…me and a few mates from the old FHBrown days made the trip over for the weekend. Pics can be found in the gallery section of the site if you are interested. Think I now have a taste for Guiness…I suppose I will have to test to see if it does really taste different in this country – It’d be rude not to really!
